Dream to be strong, to bring to book all those who hurt the weak. Dream to be vulnerable in the arms of my beloved. Dream
On 22nd August, Chennai celebrates its birthday. Yesterday was its 373rd birthday. My tribute to this wonderful city! Madras (now Chennai) had always been the stereotype voor for me. Chennai represented all that was South Indian (remember, there was a time, when South Indian was presumed Madras aka Chennai!!) – masala dosai, idly, bharatnatyam, MGR,… Continue reading Celebrating the Chennai Charm!
To wear a fool’s cap was to wear a cap worn by jesters. To go on a fool’s errand was to do a silly and profitless task. The list is endless but have you ever wondered as to how this inconspicuous word came to have a special day of its own?
Another year. Another three hundred and sixty five days to plan, to spend, to live. Quite an ordeal it sounds doesn’t it when we put it this way? Anybody would. And have you noticed, how every year-end we tend to feel that the year gone by could have been better. Just reflect a wee bit.
Gamble your choices. We all need to do it at sometime or the other in our lives. Those who don't always want the safe way out which might eventually turn out to be boring, mundane and entirely not the right choice.
Valentine's Day is over. What a relief! Till Valentine's Day all that I kept seeing was red everywhere. Now. Now. Don't imagine red bloodshot eyes fuming with anger. Valentine season always brings with it red hearts, rising passions everywhere - in newspapers, on the net, on hoardings, on the radio! "Nothing wrong in that" you might… Continue reading Valentine Karma!
Sister’s Day is celebrated just for this, to make that smile magically appear on your sister’s lips. Today is the day, a day to express your acknowledgment and appreciation to your sister. So, go ahead and make your sister’s day
We are a creation filled with extremes. Either we clamp up and keep to our world or else resort to creating an impression for ourselves through the process of earning brownie points. “What’s harmful in earning brownie points or even losing them if they are not real,” you might ask.
Life is no different today. We come across several characters that we sort of identify with but leave behind as we carry on our journey of living and surviving. Years later, we remember them as flashes of our past hovering above us when we are fagged out or depressed. Celebration reminds me that July 7 is Bonza Bottler Day. Pray what that might be! I would have asked the same question sometime back but I just discovered this day by default.
It was spring in the air when we moved to the town with trees, flowers and birds opening their arms wide to welcome a season known for its colour and joy. All creatures, big and small are known to wait anxiously for summer to bloom to its fullest. Do we people even realize the importance of summer and spring? I remember when I was in the city earlier, all that I could think of as soon as summer arrived was, "how hot and sweaty it is out here!" And, I'd rather be seated within closed doors 'enjoying' the cool air-conditioned breeze. There, in the town I surprisingly awoke every morning to greet the first rays of the sun. The energy that I received from the early morning rays kept me going the whole day with enthusiasm. In the city, I had no time for such 'frivolities.' I would rather catch a few extra winks of sleep to refrain from dozing off at work after a late night. Amidst nature's rich expanse, life runs at its own pace. It just cannot be rushed I was soon to realize.
