The Thinking Blog!

And they trotted away into the sunset…..

…..They came trotting by, man and stallion, in style and stood captured in time. Before them stood a woman from another generation, from another world and oh! were they intrigued.

“Who are you, woman?” the ravishing man with the stubble beard asked.

“You look parched. This ain’t your kinda place, is it?”

The beautiful brown glowing horse neighed in unison as if agreeing with his master and companion of years.

The woman looked bewildered. Here she was, away timeless in the desert sand, thirsty for not just water but for the love she had always wanted but somehow never got. All that was left inside of her was a heart cracked and hurt by lovers who betrayed her when she had asked for more than mere lust. And here stood a man, tall and handsome wanting to know whether she wanted something? No one had ever asked her ever. It was she who had been trailing love  and had eventually been lost in the ravages of cruel time.

The cowboy gave his rough hand, put it around her slender waist oh! so gently and she landed right before him on the stallion, too scared that this beautiful moment would vanish even before she could marinate in its cozy warmth…..

Wow! Heavenly. :) Didn’t know you were so good with romance. I often find it the most difficult genre. Loved reading it.

    Dear Jingle,

I love this whole concept of creating a very very short story with a picture as a prompt. It is much more challenging than poetry with a picture prompt. Glad you liked it…

:-) – – This is what I have been trying too with some rules on the number of words to be used. I love the fact that I am forced to say something within limits. It is surely fun but I can not do this so easily as you have done Shail! Nice try, if this was your first. I am such a bad story teller :-(.

    Dear Shree,

Thanks. Nice to see you here. Yes indeed, this is my first attempt at writing a story using a picture as prompt. I have written bigger stories but not such tiny ones and that too being dictated by a picture…

  24. I like the character development in this. You could turn it into a novel. :)

  25. ah…the moment! you captured it beautifully, Shail. Romance is my genre and I loved it. John Wayne is awesome too!

    Hi Angela,

So nice of you. I am glad you liked the story. As far as turning it into a novel is concerned, your comment is encouraging. Maybe, I should start the novel which is pending in the attic of my mind….

    Dear Hope,

You liked it? So nice. Since romance is your genre as you mention, that you find the short story interesting is a good pat on the back for me.
